Story of Wanda Sykes marriage with Alex
Though Wanda had given hints about her sexuality and was not exactly living “in the closet”, she had not openly declared homosexuality until 2008. Wanda and Alex were already married 1 month before in the October 2008. They had met each other sometimes during 2006.
Though Wanda was happily married with Alex before the proposition 8 bill was passed, she was left devastated by the bill and expressed her severe dissatisfaction.
Addressing the bill, she said
“If we had equal rights, we shouldn’t have to be standing out here demanding something that we automatically should have as citizens of this country,” Sykes added. “I said, ‘You know what, now I gotta get in your face.’ And that’s what we have to do now. They have pissed off the wrong group of people!”
