Columba Bush is the former First lady of Florida who served from January 5, 1999 to January 9, 2007. As a former First lady, she is known to be a social activist. Bush has advocated for Florida Coalition against Domestic Violence, the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, and Arts for Life.
She is also involved in awareness for drug abuse and served as co-chair for National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). She also worked in Arts for a Complete Education/Florida Alliance for Arts Education (ACE/FAAE) to create Arts for Life! Garnica and Bush married on February 23, 1974, in Austin, Texas at the chapel in the Catholic student center on the campus of the University of Texas. At the time of the wedding, a part of the wedding ceremony was conducted in Spanish as she did not speak English.
2. Columba Bush is a grandmother.
Columba Bush is not only a mother but also a grandmother. Columba and Jeb Bush are parents to three children, sons George P. and Jeb Jr. and daughter Noelle. They have four grandchildren, two by George and two by Jeb.
George followed his father into politics and was elected Texas General Land Office’s Commissioner while Jeb is working for a real estate firm which is based in Miami. Noelle lives in Orlando and works for a software firm there.

How did the Bush couple meet?
Jeb Bush and Columba Bush met in León, Mexico, Columba’s hometown when they were just 17 and 16 years old respectively. Garnica was attending a private Catholic school, Instituto Antonia Mayllen in León at that time. Meanwhile, Jeb was there teaching English as a second language as well as assisting in the building of a school in the small nearby village of Ibarrilla as the part of Man and Society class at Andover.
The couple married four years later after their meeting on February 23, 1974, in Austin, Texas and were blessed with three children. They later started living in Coral Gables, Florida.
